  Insulin is going down!

What you eat

Low Insulin Foods

Eat foods that keep insulin levels lower because they don't spike your blood sugar levels.  Saturated fats, protein-rich foods, and whole, unprocessed foods are perfect.  Nothing is as full of all the nutrients you need, as well as good at lowering insulin, as animal protein.  It's okay to just eat meat.  Nutrient-dense foods don't usually come in cardboard boxes or plastic wrappers--but they are worth search out!

Vinegar

Vinegar has been used traditionally in many cultures to flavor food.  However, another reason it may be so popular is that it reduces the insulin response because it reduces blood sugars when you eat food if you are eating a higher carb diet.  You can take a little apple cider vinegar in water before a meal, or eat some kimchee or sauerkraut, or a pickle to lower your insulin response to a meal.

Fiber

Wonderful sources of fiber include vegetables, fruits, legumes/beans, nuts, whole grains, flax seeds, and the like.  According to Dr. Jason Fung, "Fiber is classified as soluble or insoluble based on whether it is dissolvable in water.  Beans, oat bran, avocado and berries are good sources of soluble fibre. Whole grains, wheat germ, beans, flax seeds, leafy vegetables and nuts are good sources of insoluble fibre. Fibre can also classified as fermentable or non-fermentable."
